Indoor Air Quality & Humidity Control

Indoor Air Quality & Humidity Control

In Knoxville, Tennessee The Air Inside Your Home Matters More Than You Think

The air inside your home can be two to five times more polluted than outdoor air. From allergens and dust to excess humidity and dry air, we have targeted solutions for every concern. In East Tennessee’s humid climate, indoor air quality is a year-round consideration — and the right equipment makes an immediate, noticeable difference.

Air Filtration and Purification

Standard one-inch filters catch larger particles but let much of what affects your health pass right through. We install whole-home filtration and purification systems that integrate directly with your existing HVAC ductwork — no portable units required.

High-MERV Media Filters

Four- to five-inch deep media filters with MERV 11–16 ratings capture fine dust, pet dander, mold spores, and pollen without restricting airflow the way thinner high-MERV filters can. These are a straightforward, low-maintenance upgrade with a significant impact.

Electronic Air Cleaners

Electrostatic precipitation charges and captures ultra-fine particles that even high-MERV filters miss. The collection cells are washable and reusable, so there are no replacement filters to buy.

UV-C Germicidal Lights

Installed inside your air handler, UV-C lights neutralize mold, bacteria, and viruses on coil surfaces and in the air stream passing through your system. A major upgrade for allergy and asthma sufferers.

Bipolar Ionization (iWave and similar)

These units produce positive and negative ions that actively seek out and neutralize airborne pathogens, allergens, and odors throughout your living space — not just at the filter.

Humidity Control

Knoxville summers bring significant outdoor humidity, but what happens inside your home matters just as much. Too much humidity encourages mold growth, dust mite populations, and that uncomfortable sticky feeling even at lower temperatures. Too little — common in winter — causes dry skin, static electricity, cracked wood floors, and irritated airways. The ideal indoor relative humidity range is 40 to 60 percent year-round.

Whole-Home Humidifiers

Drum, flow-through, or steam models that integrate directly with your existing furnace. Automatic humidity sensing means you set it and forget it. Whole-home humidifiers protect wood floors and furniture, reduce static electricity, and make lower winter temperatures feel warmer so you can keep the thermostat a degree or two lower.

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers

Standalone or duct-mounted units capable of removing 70 to 150-plus pints of moisture per day. They prevent mold and mildew growth, eliminate musty odors, and make your air conditioning work more effectively by reducing the latent heat load. Units drain automatically to a floor drain or condensate pump — no buckets to empty.

A Note for Knoxville Homeowners

The area experiences high outdoor relative humidity throughout summer, often between 70 and 90 percent. Even a properly functioning central AC can struggle to keep indoor humidity comfortable during heat waves, and finished basements are particularly prone to moisture problems. A dedicated whole-home dehumidifier is frequently the single most impactful investment homeowners in this area can make.

Fresh Air Ventilation

Modern homes are sealed tight for energy efficiency — which is great for utility bills but means stale air, CO₂ buildup, and concentrated indoor pollutants without a plan for fresh air exchange.

Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) and Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVs)

bring in fresh outdoor air while capturing most of the heating or cooling energy from the air being exhausted. ERV models also transfer moisture between the air streams, which is especially beneficial in Knoxville's humid climate.

Benefits of ERV/HRV installation include

reducing CO₂ buildup from cooking, breathing, and combustion appliances; diluting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from furniture, paint, and cleaning products; and improving sleep quality and overall respiratory health. These systems work alongside your existing HVAC — no separate ductwork is needed in most cases.
